Source-edition basis: Binding ESRS E4 application guidance under Regulation (EU) 2023/2772, supported by the effective GRI 101: Biodiversity 2024 site-area profile.

  • Name site, polygon or measurement boundary, surface category, control relationship, and on-site or off-site state.
  • State area in hectares of the named category, where 1 hectare equals 10,000 square metres.
  • State land classification, measurement method, observation date, source, and uncertainty.
  • Identify total-use parent rows and component or related views explicitly.
  • Deduplicate overlapping polygons and never add parent and component rows.

Record-specific limitations

  • Land area does not measure ecosystem condition, habitat quality, biodiversity value, or ecological additionality.
  • Parent and component rows are not additive, and off-site nature-oriented area can be outside the site boundary.
  • Classification definitions, overlap, observation date, and remote-sensing resolution affect comparability.

Interpret this metric with the stated reporting boundary, period convention, value shape, and unit. Results prepared with different boundaries or conventions may not be directly comparable.
