Reporting boundary
Employee-only. Counts can be added across mutually exclusive geography or category rows after deduplication. Employee-type, age, gender and geography views are parallel breakdowns and are not summed together. An internal transfer is not an external new hire unless the source method explicitly classifies it that way. New hires are not derived from opening headcount, closing headcount, departures or vacancies.

Sustopedia checked each record-specific claim directly against primary publisher material. Labels distinguish current measurement authority from future compatibility and corroborative, legal, edition, or method status context. Corroborative evidence can support a stated limitation but cannot establish the core measurement by itself.

Method disclosures required
Source-edition basis: GRI 401: Employment 2016 — 2016 edition. Retain the exact source edition on every observation; later editions require a separate method profile.
- Source profile and edition.
- Employee population.
- Permanent, temporary, non-guaranteed-hours, full-time or part-time employee type only when reported.
- Age group and exact source band boundaries.
- Gender category.
- Region and country.
- External or internal recruitment scope.
- Rehire treatment.
- Retain the exact measurement-source edition with every observation.
- One unit is one distinct employee entering the reporting organization under the declared new-hire and rehire treatment during the reporting period.
Record-specific limitations
- The count does not show applicant diversity, recruitment quality, job creation, retention or net workforce growth. Rehires, acquisitions, temporary contracts and category changes can affect comparability. Current and proposed future age bands and employee-type breakdowns differ.
Interpret this metric with the stated reporting boundary, period convention, value shape, and unit. Results prepared with different boundaries or conventions may not be directly comparable.
Measurement evidence supports the core record-specific claims described above. Corroborative evidence can support limitations, while compatibility and status sources provide their separately labelled context. None of these cards by itself determines an organisation's legal applicability, filing readiness, assurance status, or compliance conclusion.
